How to Request a Book Review
If you have a book you would like me to read and review, please note that I currently favour: humorous, lighthearted fiction, literary fiction, romantic comedy, intelligent contemporary romance (I wish there was such a genre), romantic suspense, and mystery (not too dark or disturbing, please). I am not a prude, but I look for the same quality writing in erotic passages as in everything else. Actually, I am open to anything really well done, but those are my preferences.
To save time and effort, here is what I will not read: anything with a religious or political bias, dark and depressing stories, low-quality erotica, dystopia, horror, vampires, needless violence and gore, teen fiction, children's books.
Preferred formats: Kindle books (preferably in MOBI format), e-books (PDF if absolutely necessary), paperbacks and hard-covers. I reserve the right to publish a negative or unfavourable review and cannot commit to a time frame. I read slowly and like to savour a well-written manuscript. If you are interested in my honest and unbiased review (it's the only kind I write), please send me details of your book via the online form at the bottom of this page. Due to the volume of requests I receive, I regret that it is no longer possible for me to respond to every one, but thank you very much for considering me.
My review will be posted on Amazon US, UK, Canada, and France. I also post on Goodreads, but due to their different rating system, my star rating may be lower than on Amazon. Of course, a copy of my review will also appear on on my own website A Maze of Book Reviews. From time to time, a book will be featured on the Spotlight page, but I can make no promises as this is a time-consuming process.

A Word to New Writers
I am an author too, and I know how difficult it is to get your literary masterpiece noticed by the reading public. It is a vicious circle: without sales, ratings and reviews, your book will languish on the last page of your given genre where nobody sees it. While your book is not visible, it will not attract buyers, and if no-one buys and reads it, reviews will not be forthcoming.
Many new writers follow the trite advice of giving their book away for free, hoping to generate interest and garner positive reviews. Unfortunately, it is a well-known fact that those same people who eagerly download free offerings, often don't get around to reading everything they have stashed. And, even if they do, they very seldom bother to post a review. And when they do post, they will often write a couple of generic lines that will look suspiciously like a shill review. You will be lucky to escape the increasingly popular comment: "It wasn't what I expected ... I should have known it wouldn't be any good, it was free." Usually accompanied by 1 or 2 stars. Do you really want that? Also, last time I looked, there were over 22,000 Kindle books available for free. Hardly an original ploy!
So my advice is: by all means promote your book with time-limited discounts, but don't give your hard work away for free.
And, while I am addressing new or recent writers, if you would like your book to have the ultimate polish of impeccable spelling and grammar, and a refreshing absence of plot holes and discrepancies, please take a look at my "Proofreading & Translations" page. I have recently started to offer my services as Proofreader and Copy Editor and would be delighted to discuss your project with you.
