Black Balconette Bikini with Beads
This classic black bikini is well made, fully lined and has a look of quality. The material is a mix of 80% Polyamide and 20% Spandex, which makes it comfortably stretchy but also substantial and not see-through. The plastic beads, in bright, primary colours are the defining detail that makes this otherwise plain bikini really pop.
The top is styled like a balconette bra with underwire, and some well-placed padding in the lower half of the cups, a hook and loop closure (with a choice of three positions) and the showy beads on a double strap that ties at the neck, or can be left to dangle loosely in front, to avoid tan marks. The straps are attached to a ring which can move freely across the central loop but cannot be removed. The top stays up easily but don't expect much support from the neck tie, it's essentially a decoration with the look of a bead necklace. The bottoms are tied at the hips with a doubled-up string ending in white plastic beads. It's best to tie a tight double knot at each end to avoid losing the beads. Like other bikinis from this brand, the bottom (briefs) is cut small and very low so be prepared to show a lot of skin. I'm used to these styles and while this one does not have the extreme Brazilian cut, it is still revealing. I would say that the size chart is accurate. I usually take a UK size 10 (US size 8) but I ordered the Small (instead of the Medium) because I wanted a really tiny bikini for private sunbathing. It fits me exactly as I expected, but Medium would have been just perfect so I think ordering by bra size should work, or maybe go up a size if you want more coverage. |

I love the classically elegant look of black on tanned skin and I think the beads are a cheeky, fun feature. Since I first looked at it, more colours have been added, at least on the US site, so the choice is wider. I find this bikini comfortable to wear and ideal for sunbathing. The top goes well with a beach skirt or jeans and would be a good choice to wear under a see-through lacy top, so not just for the beach.
