When I received the offer of this product, I was intrigued by the prospect of a light show like the Aurora Borealis, and I must say that this pretty projector has greatly exceeded my expectations. In the box: the projector unit, a USB cable for power, a wall adapter, a standard aux audio cable, and a short leaflet in approximate English. My bedside lamp has a USB port so I plug the projector there, but other options would be a laptop, a power bar with USB ports, a portable power bank, or a wall outlet using the adapter.
The lamp is a turquoise plastic globe attached to a small stand with three buttons : On/Off, Volume Up and Volume Down. The On/Off is a multi-function button which cycles through eight different colour modes, slow moody light shafts, fast flashing, airy pastel washes, different combinations of hues, they are all sensational. |
By keeping the On/Off button depressed, one can change the angle of projection slightly; I love the option to remove the blue cap which dims and diffuses the light show; without the top half, the lights are much sharper and more saturated.
In partial to full darkness, this small lamp is strong enough to project its mesmerizing visual effects on a wall or ceiling, turning your room into a dreamy space where you can entertain, exercise, meditate, relax and collect your thoughts before going to sleep. It also works really well as romantic lighting. To make it perfect for night-time use, the lamp switches off automatically after an hour of inactivity. Another lovely option is to have music playing through the on-board speaker. Now, the sound quality is middling, one cannot really say much about bass, treble or middle tones, but it's actually better than I expected. For me the convenience of connecting your dreamy light-maker to a Smartphone or tablet makes up for the lack of depth. I recorded the sound coming from my Kindle Fire HD (a device not known for its music reproduction capabilities) with my old Sony Cybershot compact camera. The sound you'll get in real life can only be better! With or without music, I love this light projector and am using it a lot more than I anticipated.
