These cool table-top decorative LED lights have a strong Art Deco vibe. I received a set of two at no cost for test and evaluation. These look pretty even when they are not switched on, as they have an elegant architectural shape and remind me of cut glass with some frosted surfaces. They are controlled by two sets of switches hidden underneath: On/Off and Steady/Flickering flame. They require three AAA batteries (not included) and supposedly last for an amazing 120 hours. Difficult to verify that figure but mine have been in irregular use since mid-December (almost two months ago) and are still running on the original set of rechargeable batteries.
The cute trick about these lights is that if you tip them sideways, they switch off. They remain cool to the touch anyway, being LED, but I suppose it's an easy way for a child to turn off the light without fiddling with the very small switch underneath. The light emitted is lovely in the dark, more atmospheric than illuminating. It's yellow but has a very slight green cast. Very effective grouped in multiples. Although available singly, for a small additional amount you can get them in a pack of two. They don't really have a specific holiday look like Christmas fairy lights, and so can be used daily just for decoration. The flickering flame is realistic and is my favourite setting. |
I should also mention that the packaging is very smart; they come in a gift-worthy white box with full lid, which makes for a quality presentation. I love the romantic appeal of candles but, since the time my sofa caught fire, I am very happy to stick to LED lookalikes!
A beautiful set of 20 LED candles, suitable for clipping on a Christmas tree but also perfect for a cake, table-top arrangement or even vertical display on a sufficiently smooth surface.
In the box are 20 LED candles (3.5 inches or 9 cm high including the flame), 20 AAA batteries, 20 mounting clips (for Christmas tree decoration), 10 bases, 4 pins (for cakes), 5 suction-cup holders, illustrated User Manual in English and German and a remote control. Assembly is very simple: you just twist (anti-clockwise) and lift the flame top, drop in a battery (positive end facing up) and secure the top again. You then select a mounting accessory and push the pieces together. The obvious use is to clip them on branches of a Christmas tree, but there alternatives. The wall “sconce” idea is a little flimsy and the suction cups only work on something like the side of a fridge, tiles in a bathroom or the glass insert in a door or window panes. On my walls, the cups don't hold very well. The cake-top idea is better but there are only four pins, so one has to get inventive if more candles are needed. |
I found them really effective for creating a unique lighted display on a tray with pine cones, foliage, flowers, etc. I use double-sided tape to secure them, florist foam with the pins, and the clips as appropriate. By playing with different flowers and ribbons, the display is always different and looks fabulous, in the winter especially.
The remote control options really make this decoration come alive. The lights can be set for on (steady), fast blink or slow blink and there are five levels of brightness. The remote works well at the stated distance of 8 metres but it needs to be pointed directly at the candles. Because each candle has its own receiver, if they are spaced sufficiently apart, it is possible to activate them separately producing random flickering that looks quite realistic. If used only at Christmas time, it would be better to remove the remote's battery before storage, to slow down the drain. |
A very pretty addition to festive lighting and useful year-round as a permanent decoration, or for parties and family occasions. I was sent a sample box, to fully test and evaluate, and I am happy to recommend these cheerful and functional little candles. As someone who loves the romantic atmosphere of candles and once set fire to a sofa as a result, I cannot overemphasize too much the safety benefits!

It's been years since I bothered to put lights on the Christmas tree, mainly because of our cats who are dedicated demolition experts. A string of lights plugged into a wall outlet would last approximately two minutes before the inevitable attack.
However, these light garlands are battery-powered, so I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year, and to a festively lit tree. There are two separate strings in this package, with 40 LED lights each, evenly spread over 3.80 m of cable (the remaining 20 cm is plain cable leading to the battery housing. I was impressed when all 80 LEDs lit up (usually some lights don't work) and with how pretty they look. With the clear cable, the white lights give the effect of icicles, while the warm light produces a mellow amber glow. According to KooPower, the strings are waterproof (suitable for outdoor use) but the battery cases cannot be immersed in water and so need to be protected in plastic bags if exposed to the elements. I plan to use them indoors, so no such precautions are necessary. |
Three AA batteries (not included) power each string, neatly housed in a see-through plastic box. The top lid slides open and closed for easy access. I was about to pry it open with a screwdriver when I noticed the little arrow! The switch gives three options: OFF, ON (steady light), and FLASH (twinkling effect).
These dainty lights look great draped over almost anything, framing a doorway, over an indoor tree or plant, artistically flowing over a wall. I haven't had them on long enough to be able to comment on battery life but I'm using rechargeable batteries and I imagine consumption will be modest. I can't wait for Christmas and, in the meantime, I've got them framing a cabinet in a dark corner. The effect is fantastic! Sample provided for review |
These are really pretty fairy lights on a strong, durable string with 100 LED bulbs, evenly spaced over 10 m of cable. The great appeal for me is that they are battery powered, which means they can be placed away from buildings and are independent of power points. Three AA batteries (not included) are neatly housed in a see-through hard plastic box secured by two clips. The switch gives three options: ON (steady light), FLASH (fast twinkling effect) and OFF.
According to the instructions, the string is equally suitable for indoor and outdoor use as it is rain- and snow-proof . However, the battery case must be protected, if exposed to the weather. A small freezer bag, secured with electrical tape, does the job. The button is still easily operated through the plastic and I expect battery life to be fairly decent, so this should not be too great an inconvenience. |
These
dainty fairy lights look great draped over almost anything, framing a
doorway, artistically flowing over a wall, or outdoors, giving night
shape to a bush, hedge or small tree, or embellishing a fence-line.
With the see-through cable reflecting the cool, bluish white lights, the effect is like shiny icicles. The warm white or yellow light variety exudes a mellow amber glow and a more subtle lighting effect. After checking them out, I couldn't bear to put them away again, so they are now decorating a dark corner in my living room. They look fabulous! Sample provided for review |
This is a very long string of fairy lights (about 17 metres or 55 feet) with 100 LED mini-lamps in a beautiful, warm white. It is furnished with a solar captor and a short plastic spike to drive into the ground. Underneath the solar panel are two switches: ON / OFF and three lighting modes: Steady Light, Fast Flash and Slow Flash. The User Manual in English is comprehensive and understandable.
The supple string can be wound easily around tree or hedge branches, and balustrades or fence railings for a permanent display and, of course, since they don't need to be plugged into a socket, they can be placed just about anywhere, provided the captor is in full sun. I can confirm that the whole thing is weather-proof. I have left mine outside in the pouring rain for several days, and it worked perfectly every night. |
I was very impressed by its
charging ability. I set it out for the first time on a moderately
sunny winter day and, by that same evening, it had charged
sufficiently to last until the next morning. The maker states that
an initial charge of at least 6 sunny hours is necessary for best
performance, and I found this to be accurate.
The effect is magical in the garden or on a terrace and, given its efficient charging, it would also work beautifully indoors if you can leave it out on a sunny day ahead of time. The manufacture seems very good and I expect this item to last well in time, although that would require a more lengthy testing time than I have given it. A sample product was supplied to me for my evaluation and review but I think that, at under £12 (or $17 US), they are a steal! |
