Earth Therapy Magnetic Jewellery
You can find more information at the Earth Therapy new website.
A beautiful set of bangle and ring made of pure copper, which I was asked to evaluate and review. The clean design looks great on men but would also be perfectly suitable for a lady. Compared to the previous copper band, this new model is a little wider and heavier.
It has the same mellow sheen that I find so beautiful. I have always loved the look of polished copper but in order to be effective, copper jewellery should not be coated. This set isn't, as is evident by the light green cast that develops on the side that is in contact with the skin. A lovely velveteen storage bag, closed by drawstrings, is included in the purchase. My husband has been wearing the original copper band for several months now, with noticeable results. |
He broke his wrist in an accident many years ago and, although the bone fragments have knitted and healed, if stressed the wrist tends to swell up. Wearing a copper bangle keeps the swelling down to a minimum and helps with stiffness and pain. We were hoping to find a ring made of the same material for an arthritic finger with enlarged bone; this set has provided the answer.
As for power, the six magnets embedded in the band are said to deliver a total of 15,000 Gauss, while the ring delivers 6,000 Gauss through its two magnets. Both pieces are of open design, so they can be customized. The metal is soft and relatively easy to manipulate and shape as required. After four weeks of daily wear, I can already see a reduction in the bone mass of one finger that had become rather enlarged and, inevitably, stiff. If you are looking to try magnetic therapy for yourself, this beautiful set would be a very good choice. As well as a really low price, it comes with a 60-day money back guarantee and a full one year warranty. My husband seldom takes these off, even for sleeping. |
Alongside their lovely copper bangles and hematite and crystal bracelets, Earth Therapy also offer these gorgeous meditation bracelets. I confess that I haven't yet felt the urge to sit cross-legged and meditate, but I do enjoy wearing one or both of them.
The sample set I was sent to evaluate and review consists of two bracelets, possibly meant as a his/hers set but essentially suitable for anyone. Both of them are elasticated to fit the majority of wrists. My wrists measure 6 ½ inches and these bracelets are a little slack on me (I can fit two fingers inside them) but never uncomfortable. Each bracelet comes with its own luxurious black velvet storage pouch, trimmed in shimmering silver for the hematite one, and gold for the lava rock one. |
The smaller of the two consists of 24 matching, beautifully polished hematite pearl-like stones, set off by a small, silvery Buddha's head. I adore this bracelet. It can look dressy or casual according to what you are wearing and the weight and feel of the shiny stones is just lovely.
The larger bracelet is made of porous beads of black lava stone and the Buddha's head is golden, mellowing to bronze. Hematite's magnetic effects are said to be beneficial for arthritis sufferers, but its calming and grounding properties are even better known. Lava rock (also known as basalt) is the by-product of volcanic eruptions, so its ancient connection to strong but grounded energy is easy to understand. I have noticed that after being in contact with the skin for some weeks, the lava rock acquires a dull sheen as the surface smooths out. |
I had no particular expectations at first and simply wore the bracelets so I could look at them. They are both stunningly beautiful.
In the last month, however, some odd coincidences made me question my own scepticism. Basically I noticed that whenever I feel stressed and anxious, it happens to be a day when I have not put the bracelets on. It's almost as though, when wearing them, I grow a bit of a shell to protect me from the negative effects of everyday hassles. The problems don't go away, but my ability to cope seems to increase. Now, when I have a bad day, my husband jokingly asks why I am not wearing the bracelets. Whether or not you believe in the influence of these stones, these two bracelets would make a fabulous gift for your loved one. The presentation is very attractive and the bracelets mellow with use and handling, to become truly unique. |
This classically elegant, pure copper bangle is designed for men but is equally suited to a lady. Its low-lustre sheen is beautiful on the skin and it is both understated and stylish. At the two open ends are six powerful magnets embedded in the band, delivering a total of 12,000 Gauss.
Copper jewellery is most effective when the metal is not coated. The discolouration and slight green hue on the inner part of this band confirms that this copper is uncoated. My band came complete with a pretty storage bag in a cream-coloured velveteen with a drawstring closure. A free booklet is delivered in PDF format as part of the purchase, explaining the principles of magnetic therapy. |
In this bangle the magnets are positioned so they can be as close to the skin of the wrist as possible but, in our test, I believe the benefits extended to the whole hand. The main point of wearing a copper band is to get relief from the pain and swelling of arthritis, but other conditions also benefit from the increased blood flow in the area. Current science dismisses the therapeutic value of magnets as unproven and unlikely, however, I have used magnetic pads in the past (usually velcroed to fabric straps and bandages) with satisfactory results, however, never anything as beautiful as this copper band.
I accepted this copper bangle to evaluate and review as I had the perfect test subject. My husband broke his wrist in an accident and, although the bone shreds have knitted and healed, the wrist is prone to swelling when put under too much pressure. Sceptical but open-minded, my husband adjusted the band to his wrist (because it is open and somewhat malleable, it is possible to alter its shape to suit). He had just finished pruning a hedge with hand shears and his wrist was puffy and sore and his whole arm stiff. |
Within
hours, the arm and wrist were better and by the next day, he had
switched the band to his other hand, which has two damaged fingers where
extra bone tissue has caused the joints to become enlarged. After
wearing the copper band for a month (day and night), my husband's
enlarged joints are visibly smaller and he reports feeling intermittent
tingling. I should mention that lately he has also started to apply a
mix of essential oils directly on the joints, however, he feels the
copper band is working for him. Discussing these Earth Therapy
bracelets with a friend, she told me that she has been wearing copper
rings for years and they really help her arthritis.
Whatever you think of magnetic therapy, a bangle like this is a very small purchase and, personally, I would not dismiss the chance of getting some relief. I think that pain is such an unnecessary and destructive force in life that anything that has even a remote chance of diminishing it is worth trying. And when speaking of placebo effect on pain, I see nothing wrong with that. We all perceive pain differently. If something like a pretty piece of jewellery can make pains and aches less noticeable, surely that is a good thing, especially if it reduces the use of medication. |
This bracelet was sent to me for evaluation and I was immediately impressed by its beautiful presentation. It is nestled in silvery white silky fabric, inside a lovely smoky grey jewel box, embellished with a silver ribbon and bow. I have divided my review in two parts: appearance and therapeutic action.
APPEARANCE: This adorable bracelet is composed of 16 multi-faceted crystals of the Swarovski type set in a white metal alloy, and 32 black, polished, pearl-like spheres of hematite. The bracelet is held together by strong elastic thread, designed to fit a wide range of wrists. My wrists measure 6 ½ inches and this bracelet could have been made for me. I can fit one finger under it, but it would feel very comfortable even for people with larger bones as the elastic stretches without binding. |
As I understand it, the hematite beads are the active part of this bracelet. The crystals are added for decoration. In real life and especially under the sun, the stones catch the light and reflect it in a rainbow of colours. They are really pretty and I could see someone buying and wearing this bracelet simply for its aesthetic appeal. I have tried to take representative photos but they don't quite capture the full effect.
THERAPEUTIC ACTION: I have successfully used magnetic pads before but nothing as attractive as this. Reading up out of curiosity, I learnt that hematite is a mineral commonly found in the mining of iron. It is black, metal grey but also red, which explains its name (derived from the Greek word for blood). Its therapeutic value relates to its magnetic properties and is not well documented, scientifically, so it is a personal thing whether you believe the claims or not. As well as its effects on arthritis, hematite is said to have a calming and grounding effect. |
I was sceptical to start with, but have come to some interesting conclusions based on my personal experience. I started wearing this bracelet nearly a month ago, together with one of the Buddha bracelets also made by Earth Therapy. I just liked the look and the feel of them. For quite some time I have been suffering from stress but my symptoms were gradually easing. One day I had a dramatic relapse into nervousness and upset. I realized with interest that I had not been wearing the bracelets for a couple a days. Intrigued, I put them back on. A week later, the same thing happened. No bracelets, plummeting mood. So now it has become a joke with my husband. Whenever I have a bad day, he asks me why I'm not wearing my bracelets!
