ACEVOG - page 2
Adorable, perfect for the beach and to wear on a sunny holiday, and available in a range of lovely colours. I accepted to review this sample, which I believe is identical to the retail version.
It is cut quite loosely and feels very comfortable to wear (some rompers pull around the backside), however, the straps are quite long on me and don't seem to hold up the front. I do have an unusually short upper body, but I think I see something similar on the model on the product page. In due course, I will just shorten the straps to fit me, but I have reported this issue to the vendor, who seems very open to this sort of feedback. To help you make sense of the measurement chart, I asked for a size Medium based on the bust size, although my waist is a lot smaller than what they show. Maybe those are maximum sizes. I normally take a UK size 10, or US size 8. I can squeeze my moderately wide hips through the narrow part, and for the rest the fit is great, even a bit on the large side. I would actually advise going for a smaller size, if in doubt. As for the colour, it is a wine red, just as described, but a bit darker than it looks in the photos. Even in mine, it comes out a little brighter than it is in real life. |
The fabric is light and somewhat sheer but not completely see-through. Clearly it's designed to be worn without a bra, but you can see that it will be very revealing. Or you could go the other way, and team it up with a pretty crop top, or lacy vest making the outfit even more unique. It would also look great over a bikini.
The front detail is quite pretty and there are two thin, same-fabric straps to wrap around the waist, but I am belt-crazy, and can see this being worn with a more distinctive belt to give it even more presence. I love wearing it and, with the right combination of accessories, it can be dressed up or down, as needed. |
A floaty little number which looks best in motion and seems made for the dance floor. As you can see, it suits a wide range of body types. I also thought it might work as a pre-maman choice. The main feature is the pretty sloping single shoulder strap in a shiny fabric and embellished by little strass decorations in the shape of stylized flowers. The filmy outer fabric is fully lined with an inner tunic. Manufacture and finishings are good, with no visible imperfections or loose threads. The zip that closes it under one arm runs smoothly.
I was sent a sample for review purposes but the dress I received (size Medium) is quite a bit longer than what is shown in the Amazon promotional photos. I am half an inch shorter than the model, but the dress ends just above my knee. So if you think this dress is too short for your purposes, you might well receive the longer version I got. It is also somewhat larger than expected. I wanted to try it with a belt but, as you can see it's the wrong type. If I could find a belt with a similar motif to the top edge, or maybe something in silver, I think it would make this dress look vaguely like a Greek tunic. The five colour options are all very pretty. |
I don't own many dresses, and don't have occasion to wear them, but I love wearing this dress. It makes me feel very feminine, and I think it has been cut and designed to adjust to a range of body types. On me it's a bit short, but on someone younger that would look just right. As with other Acevog garments, the stitching and finishing are very well done, and the zip at the back runs smoothly. I agreed to evaluate and review this dress in exchange for a detailed and honest review. Of all the Acevog designs I have had the pleasure to try out, this is one of the best made. I think it looks better in real life than in the photos and, especially considering for the price, it would be difficult to find fault with something this pretty.
Tight-fitting, made of a soft but quite thick cotton, comfortable and available in a rainbow of colours. I asked for blue to find out what the true colour was, but instead I got black. No big deal. It's a review item which I am happy to have been offered, as I have been wearing it a lot in this hot weather. Size-wise, I usually take a UK size 10, US size 8, EU size 38; I asked for a size Medium and the fit is perfect.
The racerback makes it form-fitting but for me it's cut a bit tight around the underarms. I could have used another inch of space for optimum comfort. The front has five buttons which let you play around with the shape of the neckline. With all of them undone, the resulting deep V-neck is still modest enough, or you can wear it completely buttoned-up, or somewhere in between. The quality of manufacture is high for such a simple and inexpensive item. The buttons are firmly sewn on, buttonholes and stitching are immaculate and it washes well in cool water without noticeable shrinkage. The care tag is pretty standard: Wash below 40°C, hang to dry, low iron, no bleach. |
I like to pair it with jeans, shorts, long summer skirts and generally casual gear (it's the perfect complement to the skater-style miniskirt). Because of the shape at the back, I wear a sport bra underneath, or one of those multi-position bras with straps that criss-cross at the back. A summer staple that I have no hesitation in recommending.
