ACEVOG
A delightful little dress for a romantic dinner, party or night out. Of the three colours available (black, red and blue), I chose the electric blue and, as soon as I saw it, I was very happy with my choice. The lace bodice is fully lined in silvery-white stretchy fabric, again silky-soft on the skin, and the deep-V neckline is very flattering and secure because of the elastic nature of the lining. The lace is gorgeous, in deep blue thread with bronzy-gold counterpoints. The discreet scalloped trim finishes the bodice quite beautifully. The skirt part is unlined, in a crepe-like fabric with some stretch. There is a long zipper closure at the back.
To give you an idea of size and fit, I am 5'8”, pear-shaped and usually take a UK size 10 (US size 8, French size 38). I got this dress in a size Medium and it fits me like a glove, literally! The top, sleeves and shoulders are perfect. The skirt is rather tight on my hips and behind but because of the stretchy fabric, it feels extremely comfortable. My advice on size would be to look at the chart at the bottom of the page and choose the size closest to your measurements if you want the dress to fit tightly, or go up a size if you want the skirt to be looser (as on the models), keeping in mind that the top is cut fairly large in relation to the skirt. |
I don't own many dresses, and don't have occasion to wear them, but I love wearing this dress. It makes me feel very feminine, and I think it has been cut and designed to adjust to a range of body types. On me it's a bit short, but on someone younger that would look just right. As with other Acevog garments, the stitching and finishing are very well done, and the zip at the back runs smoothly. I agreed to evaluate and review this dress in exchange for a detailed and honest review. Of all the Acevog designs I have had the pleasure to try out, this is one of the best made. I think it looks better in real life than in the photos and, especially considering for the price, it would be difficult to find fault with something this pretty.
Imagine a super-tight T-shirt that reaches almost to the ankles. Now dream it up in 12 shades. The cotton jersey fabric makes it casual but also extremely comfortable for lounging around in. The clinging, form-fitting shape makes is eye-catching. With the right underwear, it can be worn in public but be aware that it will hug your curves and every little bulge will show.
I love the racer-back cut, it reminds me of my favourite swimsuit. The length is a compromise: too short for a long dress and too long for a midi but it should suit a variety of heights. In my photos, it is shown in a size Medium on a 5'8” UK size 10 (US size 8, French size 38). The colours shown on the Amazon page are artificially rendered, so they may not be exactly as you see them on your monitor. We picked Coffee, a very classic and wearable shade that would look good with a tan (I know, what doesn't?) and should remain pretty even if it fades. |
I am reviewing this dress at Acevog's request. I confess that, from the price and the presentation, I didn't expect this kind of quality. It arrived well packaged inside a plastic bag with a resealable zip and mesh back.
It is well finished (see my detailed photos). It's made of a soft and stretchy cotton jersey (described as a cotton blend). It feels like a breathable natural fabric with some stretch added, very much like a good quality T-shirt. This dress is actually better in person than in the photos and looks both sexy and contemporary. Because of the body-hugging shape, it can be easily accessorized with a chunky belt and bracelets, making it a versatile choice. When I tried it on, it was so comfortable that I kept it on all day. At this price, one can hardly go wrong, and the choice of colours is great. |
This is a really adorable little skirt (skater-style). Very short, very flattering because of the flared shape and available in a huge range of colours (15 at the moment). The colours on the Amazon product page are computer-rendered, so may well be a little different in real life. I chose the Lake Blue and, in person, it is a bit brighter than I expected; I would call this turquoise but, in any case, it is a pretty, summery, happy colour that goes with many things.
The fabric is an easy-care synthetic/cotton blend (so it should wash well) and crepe-like in appearance. It arrived folded and a little crushed but within a short time, the creases had disappeared. The sort of thing you could throw in your holiday suitcase and be able to wear immediately on arrival. It is a one-size but that does not mean that it will fit everyone. It is clearly designed for a slim figure. The dimensions seem to run true to the product description, which is Waist: 23"- 31"/59 - 80 cm. Measured flat, the waist is 26 inches or 66 cm. Wearing it in my photos is a UK size 10 (US size 8, French size 38), with a 29” waist and the skirt fits her well. The skirt has an elasticated waist band without any closure; it simply slips on and off, but there is a lot of give in the wide elastic and a bit more in the fabric, all of which makes it very pleasant and comfortable to wear. |
Acevog asked me to evaluate this garment and, given the price, I honestly expected something a bit cheap and cheerful. It is certainly a cheeky little number, but the quality surprised me. It is much better than some of the clothes I see in my local shops, and the stitching and finish are pretty good, with no loose threads or visible imperfections. You can see details of the stitching in my photos. Given all the colour choices, this would be perfect for a young girl for the summer, but also for any woman who likes to wear flattering, comfortable mini-skirts in bright colours. At this price, you might want to buy more than one.
I used no-show socks all the time when playing tennis but had never tried the dressier version because we always wore pantyhose with formal shoes for the office. However, the fashion wheel has turned and bare legs have been the norm for a while. While I can see the appeal (no more snagged tights, or runs in your new, expensive pantyhose), bare feet in leather shoes are not always comfortable. These shoe liners allow the familiar feeling of stockings without the unfashionable look and unhealthy consequences of encasing your legs in nylon.

You will find four pairs of socks in each package, and there is a choice of three colours: black, grey and nude. As a test sample, I picked the black ones. Being cotton, they are comfy to wear, sweat-absorbing and easy to wash. I was surprised at how successfully they stay out of sight. With most closed shoes, you can't see that I'm wearing shoe liners. A useful accessory which I will be using a lot, now that I have discovered how nice they feel!
